FLAT PARTY DIG UP CONCRETE WITH A PLASTIC SHOVEL

Alongside the announcement of their signing to Submarine Cat Records, Flat Party have dropped their latest frenetic piece of art-punk. ‘Dig Up Concrete With A Plastic Shovel’ is one of their most ambitious tracks yet, with frenzied energy building up over the course of its three-minute runtime. The self-produced track jumps effortlessly from catchy call-and-response vocals and jagged guitar stabs, to a hazy, ethereal middle section and back out the other side. They describe the track as “an aphorism for a task that is impossible to complete. Abject cynicism is often masked by saying one is “being realistic” and this song is about the harmful effects of this.” Keep an eye out for more from Flat Party this year. -Dan Peeke
